Virgon -An Educational Story
Chapter 1 -
Administration
As the thin, leathery
skinned blonde worked her way through the layers of administration
at GCTech, the Galactic College of Technology, she began to show her
agitation. Almost 40,000 Galactic Credits and more than
two years of her life had gone toward earning a degree at GCTech.
All she needed to earn her Level 2 Degree in Ships Engineering
Mechanical Elevator Maintenance (SEMEN) was one lousy English
course. With that degree she could get off this stupid rock
and work on any galactic space ship multilevel elevator system, a
key skill for working on the huge space highliners that criss-crossed
the hundreds of worlds in the Galactic Establishment.
Her name was Mandy
Dander. She had seen better days. A casual observer
would have initially thought her attractive, but upon further
inspection would have seen the wear lines in her skin, and sense
that she was truly a bit too thin. So far she had spoken to
the degree councilor, and the academic dean. While fidgeting,
spinning around, while crossing, uncrossing, and recrossing her
legs, Mandy made her case as to why she deserved credit for the
English course. She had left both of these meetings in a huff.
As she strode down the
long ornate hall toward the office of the GCTech president she first
went into the lady's room, a minor detour off of that long hall.
After a brief inspection of the facilities, and without doing any
lady's room business she continued toward the office of the
President. The President's administrative assistant had an
office just outside of that of the President. Ms. Bork looked
up and said, "Can I help you?"
Mandy replied, "Yes, I
need to see Doctor Swindall, and oh, and I also need a tampon, one
with the plastic applicators. A little taken aback, Ms. Bork
rummaged in her purse and found just the type of tampon that Mandy
had requested. Mandy slipped the torpedo into her purse.
Ms. Bork then said,
"If you will have a seat, I will see if Stuart, I mean, Doctor
Swindall can see you. He has been very busy."
"I understand he is
busy, however I have already seen the counselor and the dean and
they will not help me. I believe they are being very unfair
and I have to see Doctor Swindall as he is the only one left that
can help me."
